Chetana is the real role model of transforming the limitation of having a child with mental retardation in the family as strength and thus created platforms for empowering several such children with special needs.  In its service journey (2004-2011), the reach to the un-reached and rehabilitation services have resulted for significant impact in access & living environment including the move towards the prevention of disabilities.

Chetana needs support from you all in fulfilling its vision, mission & objectives with the sole aim of empowering the vulnerable people for better living with sustainability and quality of life. Kindly make a Visit to school and bless children on memorable occasions of yours’ & other family members. ANNUAL REVIEW MEET OF 2010-11

Dear All

The for the quarter cum Annual Review was made in the campus and the activities of 4th quarter were furnished below as:
  • 26th Jan 2011 REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATIONS: The Chief Guest hoisted the National Flag in the campus and stressed the need of working for the better living of the persons with disabilities and other targeted groups with sustainability and quality of life (QOL).
  • 14th Feb. 2011 – ANNUAL MEET: To consolidate the programmes and activities of the year, organized the event in the campus. It includes: review of the activities, demo, challenges, issues, limitations, gaps, draft annual plan for the next year and other related issues of the year. 
  • 27th Feb. 2011 – EYE CAMP: Organized the event in the campus for the children with disabilities and other community members. It includes: checkup, medicinal support, free spectacles and referrals for specialized services. Doctors appreciated the concern and commitment of the organization.  
  • 30th March 2011 AWARENESS PROGRAMME:  For moving towards the establishment of the special school, organized the event in the campus to get the reflections and suggestions. It includes: identification, database, assessment, needs, challenges, skills, vulnerability, Individualized Educational Programme (IEP) / Individualized Rehabilitation Programme (IRP) and other issues of the children.
In addition to the fourth quarter, the anneal review has given the scope to understand the progress made, challenges and limitations faced  and lessons learned. This helped to plan an effective year programmes for the year 2011-12.

CHETANA IN THE 3rd QUARTER OF 2010-11

Dear All

In continuation to its posting on various activities / programmes, conducted activities in the third quarter and the brief details were furnished below as:
  • 27th Oct. 2010 DENTAL CHECKUP: For the children with disabilities and others, conducted the event in the campus. It includes: checkup, medicinal support and referral services for specialized facilities.
  • 14th Nov. 2010 – CHILDREN’S DAY: o       The activities conducted includes, sports & games and winners got the appreciation.  Management has recognized the role of the children and assured for their empowerment with holistic development covering medical, social and economical areas.  
     
  • 24th Nov. 2010 – EXHIBITION CUM SALE: Organized one day event in the campus with the proudes prepared by the persons with disabilities. It has attracted the attention of the parents and other community members with the emphasis that this group can do wonders for the given opportunity.
  • 8th Dec. 2010 – WORLD DISABLED DAY: One day activity has been organized both in and out side the campus with the specific aim of exhibiting the skills, needs and rights of the persons with disabilities. The rally and skills show got the attention of the community and other stakeholders.
  • 26th Dec. 2010 – COMMUNITY MAPPING: Based on the vulnerability for disability, conducted mapping in the neighbouring community. It includes: visits to homes, awareness to parents, need of enrollment, registry, resources, volunteers and support systems. It has ginned the support of the community in catering the needs of the disability area.
The quarter review got opportunities for the parents and other stakeholders to express their concern, suggestions and other reflections.

2nd QUARTER OF 2010-11 OF CHETANA

Dear All

Chetana has entered into the second quarter of 2010-11 with lot of interest and activities. The brief view of the activities / programmes conducted gas been furnished below as:

  • 8th July 2010 MOTHERS’ DAY: Celebrations were made in the campus for the mothers with children with developmental disabilities. It has stressed the need and role of mothers in the whole process of their children training & rehabilitation. Mothers felt happy over the concern and commitment of the CF and felt for better participation.
  • 24th July 2010 – AWARENESS PROGRAMME: The activity was conducted in the selected neighbouring slum community for the parents, children with disabilities, volunteers and other community members. It includes: causes, consequences, early identification, early intervention, academics, vocational training, employment, income generation activities and other related support systems. The parents positive attitude impressed others with enhanced motivation. 
  • 15th Aug. 2010 – INDEPENDENCE DAY: Celebrations were held by hoisting the National Flag in the campus and the Chief Guest stressed for working for the independent living of the persons with disabilities in general and mental retardation in particular. 
  • 24th Aug. 2010 – INCOME GENERATION TRAINING PROGRAMME: Matching to the skills and needs of the persons with disabilities, conducted one day activity of painting in the campus. It includes: collection of raw material, mixing of colours, process of painting, packing, networking & linkages and ways for exhibition & marketing. This has got the acceptance of the participants and  got motivated to more such activities both at Institute and Home environment. 
  • 30th Sept. 2010 – SPORTS & GAMES AND CULTURAL ACTIVITIES: Conducted the event in the campus for the children with disabilities. It includes: walking, running, cricket, and various cultural competitions. The winners got the appreciation and understood their own abilities in front of their parents and other family members. This is the positive way of mainstreaming. 
The review was impressive and given scope for making better planning for the next quarter.

1st QUARTER OF CHETANA in 2010-11

Dear All

In continuation, Chetna h carried out several activities in the first quarter of 2010-111. The details are as follows:
as:
  • 10th April 2010 – AWARENESS PROGRAMME: Conducted this programme in the selected communities and created awareness among the parents and other family members in respect of  disability causes & consequences, acts, schemes, benefits and other supports. This enhanced the confidence of the parents to move forward for its utilization.
  • 15th April 2010 – PARENTS’ MEET: Understanding the role of parents, conduced the parents meet in the campus and requested for their participation in the whole process of rehabilitation starting from the stage of conceptualization to its implementation including monitoring & evaluation. The concept was acceptable for the parents and got motivated to join the process.
  • 30th May 2010 – AWARENESS PROGRAMME: Focus was oriented towards the concept and guidelines f the NIRAMAYA, an health scheme of the National Trust, New Delhi. The parents got impressed with this scheme and shown interest for its enrollment an d utilization. 
  • 30th June 2010 – INCOME GENERATION TRAINING ACTIVITY: Organized the activity of making livelihoods by way of small activities matching to their skills and vulnerability. This was done for the selected PWDs along with their parents. Making of Rakhi has been introduced and shown the demo. The process was simple and participants felt to do it with out much difficulty. 
The quarter review made at the end in the campus has shown significant impact and motivated to move forward with positive attitude.
